Asli Aksoy of Germany's SWP examines the growth of Turkey's military industry. Turkey has reduced its arms imports from 70% to 30% and since 2002 its military industry has increased from $1 billion to $11 billion in 2020. This provides President Erdogan with a domestic success story that allows him to pursue an assertive foreign policy.
